At Pilates Bar, we have top of the range German manufactured Far Infrared Heating Panels provided by SunnyHeat, specifically manuafactured for hot yoga rooms for the purpose of exercise.

Our heated workouts will be maintained at a room temperature between 27-33 degrees celcius.

Whats is Far Infrared all about?!

Everyday without us realising it, we are experiencing the natural electromagnetic radiation delivered to us for free from the Sun. All objects in the universe emit some level of IR radiation, but two of the most obvious sources are the sun and fire.

Infrared light is the same as the light that we can see except that the wavelength is longer and outside the range that our eyes can sense, however we can feel it as heat.

Far-infrared light refers to the far end of the electromagnetic spectrum. FIR light transfers energy purely in the form of heat which can be perceived by the thermoreceptors in human skin as radiant heat. Not only is FIR absorbed by the human body but it is also emitted by the body in the form of black body radiation

Far-Infrared light therapy is a type of low energy therapy that takes advantage of the heat generated by waves of energy from the far end of the electromagnetic spectrum.

FIR penetrates through skin up to 2 inches, unlike ultraviolet rays, FIR does not burn the skin or cause any damage. In fact, it is so safe that it is used in hospitals to warm newborn infants or premature babies.

What are the Potential benefits?

There are so many health benefits associated with infrared heating. Some examples may include: 

  • INCREASED BLOOD CIRCULATION: As the deep heat of infrared penetrates our body, our blood vessels dilute allowing greater blood flow throughout the body 

  • REDUCED MUSCLE AND JOINT PAIN: Greater blood circulation allows greater oxygenated and rich blood to be delivered to oxygenated-deprived muscles, allowing them to recover quicker and reduce the build up of waster products in these areas

  • INCREASED FLEXIBILITY: Infrared allows tissue in our muscles to warm, causing them to relax and increase range of motion. 

  • BOOSTS OUR IMMUNE SYSTEM: Infrared heat is anti-bacterial. If used at a high enough temperature, it increases white blood cell count as the immune system fights an increased body temperature.

  • REDUCED DUST CIRCULATION: Infrared heat does not rely on air circulation to heat a room, rather it focuses on heating objects. As air is not circulated, the movement of pollutants and dust particles is reduced. Lastly, as the air is not heated directly, moisture build up in the air is reduced, also reducing the growth of mould and dust.
